ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Pakistan, left for Dhaka, Bangladesh to participate in a one-day seminar on “a climate resilient South Asia: Turning climate-smart investment opportunities into reality” on July 15. In a statement issued on Thursday, Saarc CCI Senior Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik said that Pakistan has been working with member states to understand how the actors of public sector are building resilience to climate change in South Asia. He said Pakistan remains committed to tackling the issue of climate change and had ratified the Paris Agreement on Climate Change in 2015. The country is following principles therein to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 20%. Pakistan has recently passed the ‘Pakistan Climate Change Act, 2016 and is fully aware of its national and international obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
