KARACHI: A less than developed nation with low literacy rate is less concerned about their country’s leadership and the importance of their vote. In the previous election, only 86.19 million citizens were registered voters out of a population of 181.7 million. The fact that a large number from the educated class was not voting allowed certain political parties to gain lead during the election of 2013. This time around, there has been an increase in voters throughout all the four provinces, such as the 23% increase in registered voters in Punjab. Yet, the problem still arises from the fact that many educated and literate families do not vote, they do not participate in the democratic process. We can overcome these problems, and ensure a new Pakistan by persuading more and more people to vote in the upcoming elections. The voters should realise that it is the ballot that will bring about the much-desired change.
