The provincial branch of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday requested the anti-graft body’s chairperson for a helicopter to transport deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam when they return to Pakistan on Friday.

Director General NAB Punjab Saleem Shahzad on Wednesday requested for a helicopter to transport Nawaz and Maryam from the Allama Iqbal International Airport to Islamabad Airport.

The request has been made in case of a precarious situation that could take place because of agitation by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supporters.

NAB has formed two teams to arrest the father daughter duo. One will be deployed at the Lahore airport whereas the other at Islamabad airport.

Law enforcement agencies have made strict security arrangements to deal with any such situation. Security has been deployed at 14 sensitive points of the city.

Entry and exit points of Lahore will be sealed.
