NAB affairs: Officers refuse to obey superior’s orders

NAB Punjab refuse to obey orders from Rana Zahid Mehmood whose contract as DG NAB expired.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Punjab directors have refused to obey orders from Rana Zahid Mehmood whose contract as Director-General (DG) NAB Rawalpindi and DG NAB Punjab expired on April 21, 2011, sources informed The Express Tribune. The dissenting directors also informed the NAB Headquarters in this regard, sources added.


Mehmood had directed his subordinates to arrest individuals allegedly involved in the Canal Motors scandal, an order they refused to obey.

Mehmood had been asked to continue serving in his position, despite the expiration of his contract, by the NAB Headqaurters. The orders were issued by the office of DG human resource management NAB Headquarters Col (retd) Khurshid, sources said. Repeated attempts were made to contact Khurshid, but in vain. NAB Chairman is the only authority that can grant extensions, but the post that has been vacant since the removal of Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah.
