Times Square Case: Man indicted for links with Faisal Shahzad

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) formally indicted a man for having links with Faisal Shahzad, who was arrested in the United States for an aborted terrorist attack at the New York Times Square in May last year.


Anti-Terrorism Court-I Special Judge Malik Muhammad Akram Awan indicted Faisal Shabbir Abbasi who pleaded not guilty.

The court set June 7 as the next date of hearing to start recording of the statements of the prosecution witnesses.

The accused was arrested on April 16 by the Sihala Police in Islamabad. Three other suspects -- Muhammad Shoaib, Shahid Hussain and Hunbul Akhtar -- were nabbed from Islamabad Highway near Rawat in September last year but the accused escaped.

The men were charged of providing financial support and training to Faisal Shahzad for carrying out terrorist attack in the US.
