WIC starts working

Says angiography, angioplasty and echocardiography facilities are being provided at institute

LAHORE: The Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology (WIC) has started working round-the-clock and emergency as well as indoor services are also being provided in hospital, said Punjab Caretaker Health Minister Dr Jawad Sajid Khan.

He was speaking in a meeting on Saturday. He said that angiography, angioplasty and echocardiography facilities were also being provided at the institute, and cardiac bypass surgery would be started in the next week. The meeting reviewed the arrangements to start bypass surgery at the WIC.

The chair directed the officers concerned to prepare SNE for the additional staff for the WIC. Secretary Health Saqib Zafar told the authorities concerned that development and planning wing of the Specialised Healthcare Department and the administration of WIC should immediately prepare recommendations to provide missing facilities and the staff for the institution.

The minister revealed that the WIC would cater to medical needs of millions of cardiac patients of adjoining areas of Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Wazirabad and others.
