QUETTA: If we take Article 63 of the Constitution into consideration where an election candidate must be pious and have complete know-how about the Islamic traditions, Zardari and Imran do not fit the bill, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) secretary general says.

“It was only the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl which defended the blasphemy law in the parliament by stopping the PML-N from amending the blasphemy clause in parliamentary oath,” said Maulana Ghafoor Haideri while addressing a news conference at the Quetta Press Club on Saturday.

MMA slams nationalists for ‘poor performance’

Haji Amanullah Kakar and Haji Abdul Rehman Kharal flanked by their supporters joined the JUI-F and announced they would support the party in the elections.

On the general election, Haideri said, “Though there was uncertainty in the country, JUI-F and MMA called for timely elections which is the only solution to the problems faced by the country.

“Election day is nearing and court decisions are being announced in the country which can trigger anarchy, but election must be held on time at all costs.”

New force in town: MMA all set to launch election campaign

Slamming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its chief Imran Khan, the MMA secretary general said, “Imran’s dream of making Pakistan a secular state won’t be fulfilled until JUI-F and MMA are sitting in the parliament because we will turn Pakistan into Islamic welfare state.”
Haideri said, “JUI-F is taking part in elections to make Pakistan and Balochistan more developed and provide all facilities to the people.

“People of Pakistan should be provided all basic necessities, including electricity and healthcare. JUI-F has always strived for the rights of the people of Balochistan and will continue to do so with their support.”
