PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that the two parties, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party have destroyed the country and its institutions in the past 10 years.

Addressing a large public gathering in Kohat on Saturday, the PTI chairman also claimed that a particular segment of people has grabbed maximum resources while the masses are becoming poorer by the day. Imran also said that the two parties PML-N and PPP signed an underhand agreement called the Charter of Democracy (CoD) for their own selfish reasons and had nothing to do with the greater good.

“It was a plan devised by these two parties to ensure government turns to each other”, said the PTI chief referring to the CoD agreement signed in 2006 by then PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and slain PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

He claimed that PTI is struggling to change the status quo as leadership of these parties has shifted the country’s resources abroad while foreign debt has amplified up to Rs27,000 billion which was Rs6,000 billion only a few years ago.

“10 years ago, each Pakistani was indebted to international institutions by Rs35,000 but today each one of us owes Rs160,000 in loans due to the poor policies of the previous governments,” said Imran. He also asked why this amount kept increasing over the years and where the money was going.

PML-N, PPP taking turns to loot Pakistan, says Imran Khan

Imran said that this money was being plundered by the PPP and PML-N who have signed a pact to give each other turns to loot the country, no questions asked.

Meanwhile, Imran said that the tourism earning of Switzerland is equal to the budget of Pakistan, which has much more beautiful and scenic sites to attract tourists. “Our country is full of natural resources, our farmers can grow every fruit and vegetable but still we are far behind other developed countries”.

The PTI chief claimed that if his party comes into power, they will focus on providing technical education to the youth and increase tax collection by increasing the tax web and not the tax ratio, as the latter would burden the already suffering masses. He also said that unemployment and lack of proper education are the main issues and there is a clear discrepancy in education for the poor and for the rich.

“We will implement a similar education system across the country as introduced in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P)”, he said adding that nations that achieved height of progress and development invested in their human resources by imparting quality education especially vocational training and technical skills to their youth.

“Nations progress through education instead of new roads and mega projects,” said the PTI chief taking a jibe at former Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif.

Talking about Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Imran said that there would be no space for him in his government, once again referring to him as ‘magnet drawn to power and ruling parties’.
