LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the federal government on a petition seeking directions for it to declare the US ambassador to Pakistan persona non grata and stop transit facilities to US till it apologised for the Abbottabad operation and refer the matter to the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed directed a deputy attorney general to seek instructions from the federal government and appear on June 6, the next date of the hearing.

Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree filed the petition and submitted that the US is bound to accept the jurisdiction of the ICJ under a treaty of friendship agreed to in 1959.

Barrister Jafree offered help in the case before the ICJ.
