More is expected of a month-old caretaker government that is yet to stay for another month

LAHORE: Probably more is expected of a month-old caretaker government that is yet to stay for another month before a permanent set-up for five years takes over. Those who have been in the highest of the government offices and the positions are quick to call out the caretaker government even for what is merely an outcome of their own doings of the past five years. This week, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was quick to criticise the caretaker government for failing to protect his procession to Lyari, Karachi. Only a few days ago, former Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif subtly questioned the caretaker government for what he claimed its failure to handle a flooded Lahore due to heavy rainfall. However, the former CM, who governed the city and the province for 10 years, does not need to be reminded of the current situation in Lahore despite his massive development works in the city that caused inconvenience to the common people for years.

It is about time that the politicians stopped questioning those in the government for a period as short as two months and instead admit their own failure.
