Court resumes hearing of Rao Anwar's bail plea

Court also issues arrest warrants for absconding accused

KARACHI: Suspended police officer and the main accused in Naqeebullah's murder, Rao Anwar, appeared in court on Wednesday as hearing of his bail plea resumed, reported Express News.

The court expressing its displeasure over non-submission of two challans and also issued arrest warrants for more than 12 absconding accused including Amanullah Marwat and Shoaib Shooter.

Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) sought a report from jail authorities till July 2 over the plea declaring Anwar’s home as sub-jail in the Naqeebullah murder case.

Expressing its displeasure over the absence of Anwar’s lawyer, Abid S Zuberi, the court directed him appear in court on July 2.

While hearing the plea against the decision to declare on Friday, the SHC bench voiced its disapproval over the decision, adding that it was well aware why Anwar was being given protocol. It also questioned under what law has Anwar been kept in his home.

The public prosecutor told the court that Anwar was facing threats from banned organisations.

Anwar along with 11 subordinates is facing trial for allegedly killing Naqeebullah Mehsud in a staged encounter.
