PESHAWAR: The provincial food authority on Monday sealed three factories in Peshawar for violating food safety standards

A team of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority raided two sweet production units and a chips manufacturing factory in Pando Chowk in the Ring Road area of Peshawar.

Food authority spokesperson Attaullah Khan said that the three factories were found to be violating the food safety standards set by the K-P Food Safety Act 2014.

He added that the factories were producing substandard items and were then supplying these items to the suburbs of the city.

“The chips factory was using substandard and used oil which is unhealthy for public use. The factories were identified under the public complaint cell,” he said. The spokesperson said that raw and produced goods have were taken into the custody and were subsequently discarded at a site designated in Hazarkhwani.
