It was previously reported that Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Sanju became the latest Bollywood movie to have bagged the biggest advance booking of 2018. Three days after its release, the Sanjay Dutt biopic seems to be taking the box office by storm.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film based on the 'deadly Dutt' has created 'history' by 'demolishing' the highest-single day record set by Baahubali 2 previously, reported Hindustan Times.
PHOTO: NDTVThe controversial film has earned a shade over INR1.2 billion within three days of release and emerged as the highest weekend earner of 2018, having demolished records set by Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat and Salman Khan’s Race 3.
Adarsh tweeted, “Sanju sets the box office on fire. Collects Rs46.71 crore (INR467 million) on Sunday, mind-boggling. Has an exceptional opening weekend. Emerges highest opening weekend of 2018. Friday: INR 34.75 crore (INR347.5 million), Saturday: INR 38.60 crore (INR 386.5 million), Sunday INR 46.71 crore (INR 467.1 million). Total: INR120.06 crore (INR1.2 billion) of Indian showbiz.”

He went on to add, “While Sanju has crossed the tthree-day opening weekend biz of Race 3 by a distance, it has also crossed the extended weekend biz of Padmaavat by a margin. That’s not all. Sanju has also surpassed the 3-day opening weekend biz of Tiger Zinda Hai [INR 114.93 crore (INR 1.14 billion)]. Awesome!”

Comparing Sanju and Padmaavat box office numbers for a single day, the trade analyst tweeted, “Sanju creates H-I-S-T-O-R-Y. Records highest single day for a Hindi film... Ranbir is receiving praise from Bollywood celebrities for his performance in Sanju as well. His rumoured girlfriend Alia Bhatt is also among them.
At a media interaction, she said, “I really liked it. It is a fantastic, fabulous and an outstanding film. I think in my top 10 best film list, Sanju is high up there. Ranbir is outstanding in it. Vicky Kaushal and Paresh ji (Rawal) also did a fantastic job. Everyone including Anushka (Sharma) and Sonam (Kapoor) did really good job. It’s a full package.”
