TURBAT: Balochistan is a resource-rich province of Pakistan which constitutes 44% of the country’s territory. The province would easily contribute to the country’s development and growth, if the resources are properly utilised. The province has several coastal areas like Gwadar, Jiwani, Pasni which can easily bring development to the province. Besides this, Balochistan has numerous historical and astonishingly beautiful sites which can be developed into tourist spots. But, unfortunately, the province has for long been neglected by successive governments.
Recently, I visited the coastal areas of Balochistan, including Gwadar and Jiwani, where the development of these coastal areas is evident. Yet the locals still await the attention of the authorities even for the provision of their basic rights, such as education, electricity and infrastructure development. Apart from the coastal areas, conditions in the province have not really changed.
With a bad law and order situation, the Baloch population is yet to witness the development that is going to benefit the locals and not the foreign investors who would be investing here to reap the benefits of the natural resources that exist in abundance.
The province demands its due share of development and wants to be treated on a par with the other provinces.
