PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government will initiate a huge project to provide clean drinking water throughout the province.

The Rs6.87 billion project entails the installation of water filtration plants in each union council of the province and replacing all outdated water pipes with new ones.

K-P Senior Minister and Minister for Local Government Bashir Ahmad Bilour disclosed this while inaugurating a comprehensive water supply scheme at Khalabat Township, Haripur.

Provincial Minister for Education Sardar Hussain Babak and Haripur DCO Syed Mohsin Shah were also present. The Khalabat Township scheme will be completed by June next year at a cost of Rs30.37 million. Under the scheme, two overhead water tanks of 50,000 gallons each will be constructed while all residents of the township will be provided with a water connection through 2,743 metres of water pipes.
