Balochistan governor urges promotion of quality education

Directs provincial universities to ensure merit while appointing faculty members

QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai has said in order to become an educated nation “we have to promote modern education” and “pay more attention towards research”.

“For five years, standard of education in Balochistan has been raised with some positive steps taken by the provincial government,” said the governor while addressing a syndicate session at the Sardar

Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) on Thursday.
SBKWU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Rukhsana Jabeen, University of Loralai VC, Higher Education Secretary Abdullah Jan and other officials were presented.

'Bid to assassinate Balochistan governor foiled'

Achakzai said, “We will have to turn our attention towards research and modern technology for fulfilling the promise of an educated and civilised society.”

He said, “Becoming a syndicate member of an educational institute is a responsibility which requires revamping education in Balochistan.
“We have to pay full attention towards latest invention, research and modern technology to impart quality education to the students of the province.”

He directed universities in Balochistan to ensure merit in appointing faculty members and staff so that “skilled teachers can teach our children”.

The SBKWU VC apprised the members regarding the university’s annual performance.
