LAHORE: Jamadut Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has said that the imposition of governor's rule in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) has intensified killings of innocent people at the hands of security forces.

On June 20, President of India Ram Nath Kovind approved imposition of governor's rule in IoK after the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulled out of its alliance with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Delivering his Friday sermon, Saeed said the BJP government would not succeed in crushing the freedom movement by using the tactics of suppression. He called upon the Pakistani government to expose India's state terrorism on the international level.

Governor's rule imposed in IoK

"The world has become a global village while foreign policies are being imposed on Muslim countries," he said and added "we have to end [this sense of] disappointment and raise awareness among Muslims."

Saeed further said, "there's presently no unity in the Muslim world," and added, "we have to convince the Muslim world to follow Islam."

On June 19, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti submitted her resignation as chief minister to Governor Narinder Nath Vohra. She forwarded a report pertaining to the imposition of governor's rule under Section 92 of the constitution of IoK.

The governor's rule could be followed by the president's rule that might delay the assembly's election. However, this will require ratification by the parliament.
