Robber injured during shoot-out, arrested by police

One pistol, two magazines seized from his possession

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A robber was injured and arrested during an encounter with police in Rahim Yar Khan’s Kot Sabzal area on Thursday.

Kot Sabzal Police Station SHO Nadir Ali Leghari told Express News that a police team comprising Mumtaz Ahmed, Tahir Iqbal, Faisal Abbas, Mudabbir, Muhammad Ali and Ziaur Rehman were patrolling the area when they witnessed two suspects standing at a roadside.

He added when the police officials reached the spot, the accused opened fire on the team and tried to escape. He maintained the police retaliated and an encounter occurred.

Robber’s eyes gouged out by accomplices

Leghari said during the shoot-out, one robber was arrested in injured condition, while his accomplice fled the scene under the cover of firing. The accused was identified as Muhammad Akram, while the fleeing robber as Arz Muhammad. He said a pistol and two magazines were seized from the custody of the suspect.

The SHO said that accused Akram had suffered bullet injuries and was provided medical aid. He maintained that the suspects had committed a robbery a few days ago in Ahmedpur in which they had shot at and injured a man.

He pointed out the police have registered a case and started searching for the fleeing robber.

Meanwhile, the police raided different hide outs in Rahim Yar Khan and confiscated alcohol and weapons from the possession of the accused.
