The business community has demanded that the government extend the tax amnesty scheme for one month to ensure that maximum number of people, especially those belonging to the business class, benefit from the scheme. In this regard, a trade delegation headed by Markazi Anjuman Tajiran President Ajmal Baloch met Commissioner Income Tax Abdul Hameed to present its demand for extension in the deadline. During the meeting, tax officials briefed the traders about the scheme and answered relevant questions. Baloch said the government had also introduced an amnesty scheme for non-filers of tax returns, which could not receive encouraging response due to lack of awareness.
