Deepika Pudukone roped in for remake of Sridevi blockbuster

Producers are currently in the process of obtaining the original film's rights

Late veteran actor Sridevi starred in numerous blockbusters that people still reminisce of. So, it's obviously exciting when news regarding a remake of one of her superhits surfaces. And it's even better when a superstar of our time is chosen to portray the role that Sridevi originally played.

Actor Deepika Pudukone has allegedly been roped in for the lead role of a Sridevi remake, reported DNA India. Although the name of the film has not been revealed yet, sources have stated that it is a four-decade-old film that had Sridevi in the lead.

At the moment, producers are in the process of obtaining the film's rights and Deepika is apparently up-to-date with all the happenings. “The original Sridevi film was made by a producer from the South and directed by a Bollywood director. However, talks are on to procure the rights and remake it with Deepika," stated the source. "Nobody is willing to comment on the subject because talks have just been mooted and there are a lot of modalities involved. However, it is true that Deepika is in the know.’’

Although Deepika has not signed any other films as of late, she is  actively reading scripts to find the right project as an upcoming venture.
