ISLAMABAD: A close aide to Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Sayed Zulfiqar Bukhari appeared before NAB Rawalpindi on Monday where he was questioned by investigators for almost over an hour in connection with his offshore companies as revealed in Panama leaks.

According to NAB sources, Bukhari has been handed over a questionnaire by investigators directing him to answer them all and present required supporting documents in next hearing “Investigation is at initial stage and it will progress in coming days,” Bukhari told reporters outside NAB office.

Bukhari has been asked to reappear before the investigation team on June 27 (tomorrow).

It was his first appearance before NAB after the Islamabad High Court directed him to join pending investigations. On June 11, authorities at Islamabad airport had barred Bukhari from leaving Pakistan to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah along with the PTI chief.

Bukhari was earlier denied permission as his name was on blacklist of interior ministry on request of NAB as he was refusing to join investigations against him contrary to the fact he was served notices almost thrice.
