Citizens have demanded the inclusion of NOTA (none of the above option) in the ballot papers for the upcoming election
FAISALABAD: According to a new report, citizens have demanded the inclusion of NOTA (none of the above option) in the ballot papers for the upcoming elections. Better late than never, demands for the inclusion of such an option are justified. As in a country like Pakistan, a voter not wanting to choose any of the contesting parties, their candidates or even independent candidates is an understandable situation.
Moreover, marking NOTA an option would rather serve the purpose of having political parties and candidates a realistic look at their preference among the voters and how much trust a common voter is willing to put in their leadership.
Since a voter casting vote for a particular party or group in absence of a better option is a common occurrence, inclusion of the NOTA option would be a proper answer to one’s choice and preference.
