Police finally recover two abducted girls

Also arrest their three alleged kidnappers

ISLAMABAD: The Industrial area police have recovered two girls who were apparently kidnapped and arrested their three alleged kidnappers in the past month, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.

According to details, Sector I-9/2 resident Z*M had lodged a complaint with the Industrial area police that his two teenaged-daughters, KZ* and OZ* have been kidnapped.

Vast majority of abducted girls forced into marriage

Police on May 7 registered a case under sections 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) (kidnapping or abducting any woman with the intent that she may be compelled, or knowing it to be likely that she will be compelled, to marry any person against her will, or in order that she may be forced, or seduced to illicit intercourse, or knowing it to be likely that she will be forced or seduced to illicit intercourse) and started investigation into the case.

The section carries a maximum sentence of life in prison apart from paying a fine.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Najeebur Rehman Bugvi, had subsequently tasked SP-Investigation Zubair Ahmed Sheikh to arrest those involved.

SP Sheikh constituted a special team under the supervision of Industrial Area Circle ASP Rana Abdul Wahab along with Industrial Area SHO Inspector Muhammad Gulfraz, SI Mansoor Ahmed, Lady ASI Kiran Fareed, Constable Abdul Rahim and others.

SP Sheikh said that while his team investigated the case on technical grounds, police squads were dispatched to various parts of the country to follow up leads including to Sargodha, Gujranwala and Karachi.

After investigating over 50 people, checking footage from cameras of Safe City project, records in hospitals and the Darul Aman of the twin cities they managed to apprehend three men.

The suspects were identified as Aqeel Abbas, Arshad and Adeel Abbass. The three men were resident of Islamabad.

The two abducted girls were recovered from their custody while a vehicle (LEF-2274) being used by the kidnappers was impounded.

The girls were sent to Darul Aman while police obtained physical remand of the kidnappers from the concerned court.

Further investigation is underway from them.

Inspector General of Police Islamabad Jan Muhammad and SSP-Operations Bugvi appreciated the police performance and announced cash prizes for them.

New IGP pays tribute to police martyrs

Newly appointed Inspector General of Islamabad Police Jan Muhammad on Wednesday said that the force would never forget their martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the bright future of the nation.

He stated this while visiting the Police Martyrs Monument at Police Lines Headquarters on Wednesday.

Martyred cops of the Islamabad police force, the IGP said while laying a floral wreath at the monument, have left behind indelible memories and heroic examples that will continue to inspire others in the fight against criminals and maintain peace.

He prayed for the souls of the martyred personnel and said that Islamabad police would take special care of the families of the martyred personnel and will not leave them alone at any difficult time.

DIG (Headquarters) Nasir Mehmood Satti, SSP (Operations) Najeebur-Rehman Bugvi, SSP (Headquarters) Muhammad Hassan Iqbal, SP (Headquarters) Sumera Azam, SP (Investigation) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh and other senior police officials were also present on the occasion.
