KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has asked political parties to realise the importance of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), adding this sector has a huge vote bank, which cannot be ignored. Appreciating a statement of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan that SMEs are the backbone of the economy, UNISAME President Zulfikar Thaver said that all political parties must include the need for SME promotion and development on a fast track basis in their manifesto. There are more than 3.2 million SMEs in Pakistan and in addition there are equal numbers of SME farmers, Thaver added.
