Addressing the respondents of the petition, including President Mamnoon Hussain, interim Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Mohammad Raza and Sindh Election Commissioner Mohammad Yousaf Khan Khattak, the petition prayed upon the high court to declare the appointment illegal and unconstitutional.
The registrar's office raised objections over the petition.
Caretaker setup: Sindh CM to meet provincial opposition leader on May 24
After an hours-long discussion, the political parties in Sindh had reached a consensus on former chief secretary Rehman as the caretaker chief minister on June 1. He was nominated by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Around 30 names were discussed in the meeting between former chief minister Murad Ali Shah and opposition leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan.
Rehman had served as a chief secretary of Sindh from 2007 to 2010.
