QUETTA: People should oust those political parties and leaders who have divided Balochistan on ethnic lines by using the ballot box, senior BNP leader says.

“People of Balochistan have a golden chance to elect their representatives who can really strive for the rights of the people of Balochistan because the province can’t progress unless ethnic division ends,” said Nawabzada Haji Lashkari Raisani while addressing a public gathering in Quetta on Tuesday.

Raisani slammed the former provincial governments for their “poor performance” and said, “Those who compromised the interest of the people of Balochistan must be held accountable during the upcoming elections.”

He said, “Despite spending billions of rupees on development projects in Balochistan, the people are still deprived of basic health, education and clean water facilities.”

He said that in order to provide a better future to the next generation, change has to take place and it will happen only through the power of vote because “elections are tantamount to a golden change” for the people of Balochistan.

“If the Balochistan National Party (BNP) gets a chance to serve the people of Balochistan indeed we have better plans, including jobs for the youth,” Raisani said.

On the plight of settlers in Balochistan, the BNP senior leader said, “People living in Balochistan for centuries shouldn’t be called settlers. BNP will change the status of people living in Balochistan for decades because they are no longer settlers, they are Balochistanis.”
