Emilia Clarke bids farewell to 'Game of Thrones' with emotional note

HOBART: British actor, Emilia Clarke, who plays the powerful Daenerys Targaryen on the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones, took to Instagram to pen a farewell note to the fantasy series after wrapping up production of the final season.

The 31-year-old star thanked the show for letting her live the life she had "never dreamed she would be able to live" and said she would "never stop missing the GoT family" in the emotional post, reports Daily Mail.

Lying on a bed of flowers, Clarke went make-up free for the candid selfie.



Donning a suede baseball cap and a navy faux-fur hooded coat,Emilia captioned the image, "Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade.

"It's been a trip Game of Thrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I'd be able to live and the family I'll never stop missing."

Despite production being complete, the final season will premiere in 2019.



Previously, the Me Before You star spoke about her character in an interview to Belfast Telegraph, reported Express.co.

She said, “Right now, I’m sort of feeling – with her – optimistic. She’ll probably need some help, though. I’ll definitely be disappointed if she doesn’t make it.”

Talking about her determination to become a fair ruler, Clarke said: “I think that there was always that idea that she would know where she was going to, but the reality is frightening.”



“I mean, I always believed that Dany had the highest of hopes for what kind of impact she could leave on this world. She is continuously reaching for purest level of ruler-ship — is that a word? I just made it up.”

She also said she was not certain how all the clashes for the Iron Throne will end. “It will be what none of us think it will be,” Emilia had said.

The protagonist gets emotional with the thought of the show coming to end. “It really feels like preparing to leave home… That’s exciting, but it’s sad and scary all at the same time,” she said.
