Nation celebrates Eidul Fitr with fervour

Faithfuls gather in mosques, Eidgahs and open spaces to offer Eid prayers

The nation celebrated Eidul Fitr on Saturday with national fervour.

Faithfuls gathered in mosques, Eidgahs and open spaces in cities, towns and villages to offer Eid prayers in the morning.

There were scores of small and big congregations in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Multan and Peshawar with strict security arrangements in place.

A big gathering was held in Karachi’s polo ground. Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair, Karachi mayor Wasim Akhtar and the leaders of the two MQM factions offered Eid prayers in a single row.

President Mamnoon Hussain also offered Eid prayers in the port city.

In Lahore, the biggest Eid prayer gathering was at Badshahi Masjid, where the Punjab governor also offered prayers.

Meanwhile, Jamat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq led the Eid prayers at its party headquarters Mansoora.

Big gatherings were also held in Jamia Naeemia and Minhajul Quran.

Islamabad's scenic Faisal Mosque witnessed similar zeal and fervour with devotees from the twin city of Rawalpindi also attending the prayers.

In Faisalabad, the Eid prayers were held in small and big mosques and open grounds.

Rana Sanaullah, the PML-N leader offered prayers in the Madni masjid in Samanabad.

In Multan, Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi offered prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya, while P-P-P leaders Maula Bux Chandio offered prayers in Hyderabad and Khursheed Shah in Sukkur.

Similarly large Eid gatherings took place on the Charsadda road in Peshawar.

Strict security arrangements were in place in every city including provincial capitals, with personnel in large numbers deployed at venues.
