SARGODHA: A man killed his father-in-law after being dejected over the divorce from his wife in Sargodha. The police have registered a case against Abdur Razzaq and two others.

The police said that deceased Khizar Hayat used to work as a labourer and arranged the marriage of his daughter Saima Kausar to Abdul Razzaq, a resident of Mozah Salim. However, disputes between the couple ended up in divorce, leaving an already disturbed Razzaq in a vengeful state of mind.

In a fit of rage, Razzaq along with accomplices Hamid and Mumtaz, barged into the home of his father-in-law. Without sparing a moment to negotiate, he took out a pistol and sprayed bullets at Hayat. The family immediately rushed Hayat to the nearby rural hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A case had been lodged against Abdul Razzaq and two others in the presence of victim’s brother Umar Hayat.

Earlier, a man gunned down his sister-in-law and three others over a dispute in Chak Jhumra.

The police said that 35-year-old Riaz had married his sister-in-law’s younger sister some years ago. However, due to differences, he divorced his wife and married another woman. Accused Riaz developed a grudge against his sister-in-law and used to pressurise his elder brother to divorce her. The accused often had arguments and quarrels over the issue with family members.

On the day of the incident, Riaz again had an argument with his family over the matter and in a fit of rage, shot dead his 35-year-old sister-in-law Parveen, seven-year-old nephew Rehman, eight-year-old niece Muqaddas and father Muhammad Shafi, 60.
