Caretaker setup would go to the last extent to hold free and fair elections, says Askari

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Secretary Akbar Durrani and IG Police Kaleem Imam called on caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi at the Chief Minister’s Office on Friday. During the meeting, the commitment of holding free and fair elections was reiterated.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the caretaker setup would go to the last extent to hold free and fair elections and all sorts of resources would be utilised to ensure it. He said the responsibility given to us would be fulfilled as ensuring impartial elections is the collective responsibility of all.

“You are the professional officers and have to fulfil responsibilities in a professional manner and no interference or pressure will have to be tolerated,” he added.

He said to take. “No one will point a finger when you will speak through your performance,” he remarked.
