Maryam requests for prayers after Kulsoom suffers cardiac arrest

Former first lady was rushed to London hospital on Wednesday

Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, was shifted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a London hospital on Thursday after her health deteriorated.

"Ami had a sudden cardiac arrest this morning when we were on the flight and (has been) on the ventilator since," Maryam Nawaz wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter. She requested well-wishers to pray for her mother's health.

Hussain Nawaz also appealed to the nation to pray for his mother’s speedy recovery. Kulsoom was taken to the facility on Wednesday after her health deteriorated. The former first lady is said to have not regained consciousness since. Kulsoom was shifted to the ICU after she suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif requested the nation to pray for his sister-in-law's speedy recovery.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan also tweeted on this account.

Nawaz and daughter Maryam left for London early on Thursday to visit Kulsoom who has been undergoing cancer treatment in London. They are expected to spend Eid holidays with Kulsoom and other family members in the city.
