Gang of car thieves busted

KARACHI:
The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) of the Karachi police claimed on Thursday to have apprehended a gang of car thieves in the city.

The suspects were arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off in the Aziz Bhatti area of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. They were identified as Hussain Buksh Solangi alias Dada, Khamiso Mallah alias Khambo and Parmanad alias Pamumal.

According to ACLC officials, the gang was active for the last six years in the city and it was involved in the theft of around 100 vehicles from various areas, including Defence, Clifton and Sharae Faisal.

According to ACLC chief SSP Asad Raza, after stealing cars, the gang used to make fake documents and re-sell the vehicles in Tando Adam in Sanghar. SSP Raza added that the ACLC recovered at least 10 vehicles stolen by the gang during raids in Sanghar, Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas districts, which would be handed over to their owners.

Cases have been registered against the suspects, while further investigations are under way.
