The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted on Thursday the moon may be sighted in Balochistan's coastal areas – Pasni and Gwadar.

However, since the age of the moon is 19 hours, the PMD has foretold the chances of moon sighting to be 'fewer' today.

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee will meet today in Karachi for sighting the Shawwal moon.

UAE to celebrate Eid on Friday as Shawwal moon sighted

According to Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony officials, Central Ruet-e-Hilal committee will meet under the chairmanship of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman while the district committees will meet in their respective areas.

Earlier today, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced the sighting of moon marking the beginning of Shawwal with Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated in the country on Friday.

However, it added, the final decision in this regard will be announced by the moon-sighting committee after the Maghrib prayer (offered at the sunset).
