Lady Health Workers in Mohmand finally get paid

Lady health workers in the Mohmand tribal area had seen their salaries halted by the health authorities

SHABQADAR: After a gap of around a year, the Mohmand district administration has released salaries of lady health workers in the area. The district administration of Mohmand said that salaries of lady health workers (LHWs), who were working in far-flung border areas in the Mohmand tribal area on ad hoc bases, had seen their salaries halted by the health authorities. The Supreme Court, however, had regularised the service of LHWs across the country. But health officials at the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) administration hesitated to implement the directive and regularise LHWs. This prompted LHWs to stage protests. Having shed his cloak of the political agent following a notification from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary late last week, Mohmand Deputy commissioner Wasif Saeed directed to start the process of regularising LHWs and to pay their pending salaries.  The health department finally regularised the LHWs and released their dues.
