A meeting on election security arrangements, originally slated for June 13 has been postponed to June 14. This has been done to ensure that the new appointees are in a position to attend the huddle. A letter has been written to the aforementioned bureaucrat on this account. New appointments should be finalised by tomorrow (Wednesday).
ECP barred from making politicians' asset declaration public
Last month the ECP and the Pakistan Army formulated a security strategy for the forthcoming general elections, Express News reported.
The armed forces are expected to provide security to ensure the smooth conduct of elections. The final plan will be announced after a consensus with law enforcement agencies as well as federal and provincial caretaker authorities.
Over 500 candidates obtain nomination papers
According to sources, military personnel may be tasked with acting as a rapid response force to ensure the safe passage of elections. Personnel may also be stationed to secure the publication and transport of ballot papers.
The ECP will present a formal request on this account, sources added. The military high command will take a final call, they said.
