‘Citizen’s lives in danger’

Irrigation department should also stop backing influential locals says Bahwalpur Ittehad Chairperson

BAHAWALPUR: Temperatures in Cholistan have gone up to 50 degrees Celsius, putting citizen’s lives in danger, said Bahwalpur Ittehad Chairperson Asiya Kaamil.

She expressed these views while addressing the media on Thursday.

The government should recover the land from illegal occupants so that farmers can get their share of water. Further, there should be no political interference so that we can put a stop to water theft, she added.



The irrigation department should also stop backing influential locals who are involved in water theft, while government servants involved in aiding and abetting these criminals should be punished appropriately, she stressed.

They should also impose a tax for the provision of water, she proposed. Implementing these recommendations will not only bring about a green revolution but will also provide water for over two million cattle in Cholistan, she revealed.
