Three martyred in Lower Dir blast

One civilian was also killed while two other constables were injured in the attack

PESHAWAR: At least two police personnel and a civilian were martyred while two constables were injured in an IED blast in Lower Dir on Thursday.

Sources said a police team was on its way to carry out an investigation of the killing of a village defence council member when their vehicle was targeted in the Maidan area of Lower Dir. SHO Bakhat Munir and constable Irfan were martyred in the attack. The civilian was identified as Fazal Hussain. Constable Hazrat Said and Constable Asad Iqbal were injured in the attack.

The village defense council member Sarfaraz, a resident of village Lamotai, Sori Pao, Tehsil Lal Qila in Maidan, was targeted by unidentified assailants late Wednesday night, sources added. Family sources ruled out the possibility of murder over enmity.
