The HED has issued the instructions and college lecturers and professors have been told that all transfers have been stopped. Furthermore, the department did not issue any date for the resumption of transfers and postings. The department also announced that a new schedule would be announced later.
The notice issued by HED read: “Due to the announcement of election schedule by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), all kinds of transfers will be banned till further orders. New schedule/date for receiving of transfer's Applications will be announced later.”
The department, however, issued posting and transfer orders up till May 31, unlike the Punjab School Education Department (SED). The ECP had announced on May 21 the schedule for the general election 2018. Meanwhile, the ECP had also issued a notification stating that any posting or transfer after May 31 by the federal or the provincial governments stand cancelled.

Earlier, the SED stopped all the transfers and appointments of schoolteachers for the general elections. The department issued instructions to all the 36 chief executive officers (CEOs) of the district education authorities’ (DEAs) of Punjab.
“You are requested not to transfer or make appointments under any circumstances until the process of election isn’t completed,” it said. The SED had also reversed the transfers it had made and the CEOs were instructed to take back any recent orders of transfer or appointment made by them. “Any order already issued must be withdrawn immediately,” the notice further read. The teachers awaiting transfer would have to wait until the formation of a new government after elections.
