NAB summons Paragon City director in housing scam

Accused was summoned by anti-graft watchdog repeatedly but he did not turn up

National Accountability Bureau Lahore (NAB) has summoned Paragon City Director Nadeem Zia on June 9 in an ongoing investigation into scams of different housing societies including Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Society scam.

An open notice by NAB stated that the department was investigating the allegations of embezzlement in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal housing society. The accused was summoned by the anti-graft watchdog repeatedly through summons sent to him but he did not turn up. The notice further read that NAB also informed him through a letter written on March 3, 2018, but he still did not appear.

NAB warned the accused person to appear before NAB on June 9 otherwise a legal action will be initiated according to NAB Ordinance.

Housing scam: NAB summons Saad Rafique on March 22

In the Paragon City scam, NAB had summoned former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and former Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique at the end of this month.

NAB had launched investigations into the case when dozens of victims had staged protests and a held a press conference at Lahore Press club against the housing society’s fraud.

In Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Society scam, NAB had arrested former LDA Director General Ahad Khan Cheema and others over the allegations of corruption. During investigations, NAB had found Cheema received huge sums of money in bribe for misuse of authority by awarding the contract of the project to Casa Developers. The amount was paid from the account of Paragon Society.
