Violation of the ceasefire agreement

Letter June 06, 2018
Forces here must retaliate in equal proportion to meet with the violence of the Indian forces

SIALKOT: Just days after the arrangement to revive the 2003 ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, at least 24 people, including women and children, were killed in a second incident of cross-border firing and shelling by the Indian forces.

This violation adds to India’s long list of violation of international laws and treaties that comes just weeks after India’s violation of the Indus Waters Treaty on water sharing by inaugurating the Kishanganga Dam.

Lodging of protest after every such event has clearly not sufficed, forces here must retaliate in equal proportion to meet with the violence of the Indian forces.
