KARACHI: Rush in the markets has increased as the second Ashura of Ramazan ends.
A large number of women head to the market immediately after breaking their fast. The Hyderi, Tariq Road, Korangi, Karimabad and Clifton markets have witnessed an increase in shoppers after iftar.
Speaking to the Express News, many women visiting the market said that as Eid comes closer, the rush in markets increases which is why they try to complete their Eid preparations by the second Ashura of Ramazan.
Similarly, the shopkeepers say that with the commencement of the second Ashura, work flow increases which is why shops remain open till late night in the last days of Ramazan.
The shopkeepers told Express News that due to the extreme temperatures and fasts, people visit the markets less often in the day.
The rush starts increasing after iftar, the shopkeepers said, adding that women are choosing lighter shades of cloth this Eid because of the hot temperature in the city.
The shopkeepers try to keep more garments with lighter shades in their shops than darker shades to be able to attract more customers.
Regarding jewellery, the shopkeepers said that women are more interested in heavy earrings with lighter designs. Meanwhile, new and unique types of kolhapuris and khussas are also a part of the shopping visits for Eid preparation.
Countless women can also be found shopping for home décor items. When you prepare for yourself on Eid, the decoration of your home matters too, the shoppers said.
