The two actors previously co-starred in Raanjhanaa and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Bashing the trollers, the Sanju actor stated that things like this happen and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including Swara.
"I think people just like to troll her because she has an opinion and a point of view, and I guess that shows how much they love her because the other side of hate is always love. So Swara, you have a lot of lovers!," said Sonam.
Swara has been slammed by actors Urwa Hocane, Mehwish Hayat, Gohar Rasheed and Armeena Rana Khan among others via social media for calling Pakistan a "failing state".

The controversy started after Swara spoke of the recent ban in Pakistan on her upcomig film Veere Di Wedding, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shikha Talsania. "Pakistan is a non-secular state so I'm not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state?" Swara stated in the interview.
She added, "I don't understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan."

Many slammed the actor for being part of an overtly sexual scene in the film too, claiming that they went to watch the film with their family but were unable to do so.
Swara plays the role of Sakshi in Veere Di Wedding, a free-spirited and impetuous woman who is going through a failed marriage.
