SAARC Chamber calls for partnership with ASEAN

SAARC cannot progress in isolation and needs to practically engage with other Asian and international organisations

LAHORE: South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc) Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Senior Vice President Iftikhar Ali Malik has said that the regional organisation cannot progress in isolation and called for strengthening practical engagement with other Asian and international organisations for development in the region.

Speaking at an Iftar dinner hosted by the city’s business community on Sunday, Malik asked Saarc nations to build new structures and mechanisms without hesitation to enable the organisation to achieve its full potential.

“It is time to find out partners from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) since it is home to about 550 million people whose living standards are rising with the passage of time,” he said.
