After allegedly stripping a 17-year-old girl in public on May 30 in the Kachi Mohalla area, within the remits of the Hashtnagri police station, the suspect Muzhar Hussain had managed to flee.
“The accused fled after the incident after which police launched raids to arrest him,” SP Kaukab said, adding that they had raided suspected hideouts in Mardan, Hassanabdal and other parts of the country. Meeting little success, he said that they deputed officers in plain clothes to locate the suspected.
These officers found a clue that the suspect may be hiding in Chamkani, on the outskirts of the city.
“A police squad was sent to arrest him,” the SP city said. Officers managed to apprehend the suspect in the subsequent raid. The raids came after CCPO Qazi Jamil had taken notice of anger over the incident on social media and directed officers to arrest the suspect.
