My goodwill towards the people of Pakistan remains unchanged: Swara Bhaskar

In a series of rather confusing tweets, Bhaskar's frail attempt at clarification seems insufficient

Veere Di Wedding actor Swara Bhaskar seems to have garnered a lot of attention in Pakistan amid her latest comments about the country. Speaking to film critic Rajeev Masand about the ban on the film in Pakistan, Swara called Pakistan a 'failing state'.

Responding to the Bollywood actor's intolerance and ill-informed facts, Pakistani celebrities Urwa Hocane, Gohar Rasheed and Armeena Rana Khan shared their two cents.

Urwa schooled Swara of becoming a bitter person, while Gohar and Armeena termed the Bollywood starlet's comments as a way of garnering attention.

After much debate, the actor has come forth saying that she is perfectly "okay' being the enemy as long as brings both the nations together.

Swara replied to a tweet by user Pedestrain Poet, who wrote, "Indians and Pakistanis. Divided by history, pain, sociopolitical realities, religion, terrorism. United by hating on Swara."

The actor tweeted:

She further added that it looks like "Indo-Pak peace is on the horizon".

The Ranjhaana actor lastly tweeted that matters of government of a country and its people are distinct, and her love for Pakistan remains unchanged.

While talking about the ban on Veere Di Wedding in Pakistan, Bhaskar had said, “For some reason I have to keep answering for that. I don’t know why people think I’m a spokesperson for the Pakistani government. What do you expect from a state that’s run by Sharia Laws?”

“They’re a nonsecular state. I’m not surprised at all. Why should we hold up Pakistan, which is a failing state — I don’t understand why we keep taking pleasure and feeling a sense of self-worth from all the silly things that happen in Pakistan. Apologies to all my Pakistani friends right now. Rest assured, Pakistanis have way worse vocabulary than we do. I know,” she added.
