The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) suffered another blow as former lawmaker Rashid Godil announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday.

Addressing media in Islamabad after a meeting with Imran Khan, the former MNA stated that as a citizen of Karachi he has raised his voice for the metropolis.

“Karachi has been ignored for the past 20 years. The city was ruled by two parties and both conflicted for the funds. Now I have decided that a federal-level party needs to come to Karachi,” Godil said added that only a federal party can help Karachi develop.

It has not been decided which constituency I will contest from but Pakistan needs to look beyond ethic politics and focus on national politics, he said.

"We should not see Pakistan as Mohajirs, Sindhis, Pathans, Balochs,” he added. “Everyone favoring Pakistan should be allowed to join the competition, but those with anti-Pakistan stance should not be allowed to pursue politics."
