Pakistan-India football series on track

LAHORE:

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and All India Football Federation (AIFF) have agreed to play a friendly series in United Kingdom in July.

Earlier, the PFF had reached an understanding with their Indian counterparts to hold a three-match series to compensate for its tour of Palestine that was postponed indefinitely last week. However, the AIFF wanted an official confirmation from the government.

In its executive committee meeting held yesterday, the approval for the series was given.

“The PFF and the AIFF will seek formal permissions from their sports ministries for an NOC,” said PFF Director Marketing Sardar Naveed Haider Khan. “We don’t see any problems for this historical series which will be great for the federations, players and the fans.

“Both sets of players will be watched by professional scouts and it may be the case that our players get an offer to play for professional clubs soon.”
