Two houses looted; seminary teacher booked for torturing student

ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested a man who allegedly swore at and assaulted traffic wardens while under the influence. Two traffic officials posted on 9th Avenue in G-8/4 said a man who was apparently intoxicated came in a car along with a woman and started yelling and swearing at them from a distance.

The suspect, later identified as Adeel Masood, asked the cops what they were doing on the road at this hour. He pushed the officer and tore their uniform while also reportedly damaging the police car. Reinforcement was called and the suspect taken to Karachi Company police station where he was booked for obstructing policemen and drinking.

Meanwhile, at least two houses have been looted in the capital. Police said six armed men looted the house of a journalist at gunpoint in Sector I-8/4 on Friday. The suspects stole cash, foreign currency, mobile phones and gold worth millions of rupees. The family members were taken hostage. In the FIR, one suspect has been identified while the rest are still unknown.

Another house was looted in Ghauri Town Phase-III in the Koral police jurisdiction where unidentified suspects stole gold, cash and mobile phones. No arrest has been made in either case.

Furthermore, police have also registered a case against a seminary teacher who allegedly tortured a child. Industrial area police booked the teacher, identified as Qari Ubaid, who teaches at Jamia Salafia seminary in H-8/1.

Kohsar police have booked two unidentified persons who allegedly started the wildfire in the Margalla Hills a few days ago. The case was registered on the complaint of a wildlife guard who said two unknown men started the fire in the hills near Talhar village on May 24 and the fire wreaked havoc, destroying the forest and severely damaging wildlife.

Moreover, Bhara Kahu police have booked a man who allegedly raped a woman, while Koral police booked a man who committed suicide after opening fire on a woman over a marriage proposal dispute in Tarlai Kalan. Another man was arrested by the Koral police after he allegedly stabbed his sister in an attempt to murder her.
