BAP president insists on delaying general elections

Declares Naseerabad as party’s fortress

QUETTA: Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) President Jam Kamal has said that the massive participation of tribal elders and members of local bodies has made Naseerabad division a fortress of the party.

“BAP will contest elections from both the federal and the provincial level,” said Kamal while addressing a membership campaign on Saturday. Well-known personalities of Naseerabad, Rameen Muhammad Sani, Sikandar Khan Umrani and Ahsan Guchki along with their followers joined BAP.



BAP chief said, “The participation of youth will further strengthen the party.” Kamal vowed to change the destiny of the province “if a chance is given to us”. He slammed the previous governments for doing nothing for the welfare of the people. He said, “Though BAP is a new party, but its members are highly experienced and have served people from various platforms. However, BAP is an independent party and we have the power to make decisions.”

He said, “Nearly all parties had chances to form governments, but never ever found the chance to make decisions independently. Therefore, people from other parties, including Pakistan Peoples Party and Balochistan National Party, are leaving their parties and joining BAP.”



Kamal said, “Issues of the people are not big, but need to be addressed and for that purpose, the structure of governance should be service-oriented.”

To a question, he said, “The elections ought to be delayed. They must be held in the last week of October as the harsh weather in various areas of the country can have a negative impact on the electoral process, particularly in Balochistan.”

Umrani said, “If we analyse the political landscape of Balochistan in the near past or present, we will find bitter experiences. The decisions about Balochistan’s welfare have always been taken from Bilawal House and Bani Gala.” He said that political parties had tried to strengthen their position by playing politics in the name of Balochistan, but now “people are aware of their political rights”.

Therefore, BAP has been established keeping in view the political needs of the people of Balochistan, he said.
“We had been offered by other parties, including PTI, to join them, but the vision of the BAP leadership attracted us,” he added.
