Six injured in clinic gas blast

PESHAWAR: At least six people were injured, three of them critically, when an explosion rocked a private clinic in the Noor Plaza area of Peshawar on Friday.

Police, however, ruled out foul play, stating that the explosion was the result of accumulated gas combusting.

“The bomb disposal unit (BDU) officials inspected the site of the blast and found no trace of explosives inside the room where the blast occurred,” an officer from the local police station said, adding that six of the injured were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where doctors described the condition of three as critical.

“The injured are residents of Bannu who were visiting the clinic for a medical examination,” the police officer said.

The blast badly damaged the building and caused widespread panic among the local residents.

“Everything caught fire as a result of blast and people inside were badly burnt,” they claimed.
